Hi everyone, this is Morgan, the founder of Gemoo.
I’m excited to share with you today the latest version of Gemoo Snap, a screenshot tool that has received a lot of your support.
It’s now the period of Gemoo Snap Version 2, which is more practical and has more built-in features that can assist you better, especially when you’re building in public or creating content for social media. Let’s take a deeper look.
Gemoo Snap has caught a lot of attention on Product Hunt, Indie Hackers, Hacker News and so on, as well as received some positive feedback from people around various industries, like designers, marketers, startup founders, indie hackers, and teachers. It has accrued a ton of badges since its introduction, which is really appreciated.
Yet, it’s just a modest success, and we’re always thinking of ways to improve and help more people in various scenarios. We just constantly investigating new features, but we have been struggling with what types of additional features to include.
Suddenly, it just comes to my head.
As many of you are aware, I’ve been working on building in public for a while, primarily on Twitter. I will use Gemoo Snap when I need to publish screenshots of my monthly growth or most recent accomplishments. It suits me nicely most of the time, except for one instance.
Every time, I have to change the image’s proportions and size to match Twitter, which takes time and is annoying, especially when there are a lot of images piling up. I thus make the decision to pursue this demand further in order to see whether Gemoo Snap can do something in this case.
I look up social media image size trends and find that they have been popular up until now. In the meanwhile, I look into how many BIP founders share screenshots in social media-sized formats, and the results are practically universal.
I then present my proposal to my team members, and after receiving their unanimous support, we begin to build features to meet more social media requirements.
I would say this is definitely the highlight of this release. You will see pre-set image sizes and ratios for the most frequently used social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
You can generate your image with one click no matter what kind of ratio and size you want, cover photo, event cover, stories or highlight cover on Facebook; shared post with different numbers of images in different sizes, shared links, the header on Twitter; square posts, original posts, portrait photos, or stories on Instagram; shared image, life tab – main image, personal profile cover, company page cover or custom module image on LinkedIn…every size you can imagine.
We’ve also improved the part of the layout. There are pre-set layouts that may be automatically laid up with a single click or dragged and dropped to freely organize whether it is a single or several screenshots.
Mockups have now been included, as suggested by numerous feedback we’ve received.
Feel free to edit screenshots as you choose, to make them more polished and professional using adjustable mockups.
It happens sometimes to forget to use mosaic blur to hide people’s private information while publishing images on social media, which might lead to legal issues and unexpected expenses.
You can relax right now with the new Gemoo Snap. It will automatically identify and redact sensitive information like IP addresses, emails, credit cards, and phone numbers, or you can decide whether to redact the information yourself.
This version of Gemoo Snap is undoubtedly not the last; with additional comments and recommendations from you, I’m confident that we can develop even better products to meet more of your demands in your everyday work.
Even though there are many new features being added, Gemoo Snap will continue to be simple and free. So, don’t hesitate to try the newest Gemoo Snap if you want to learn more about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
